Dimensions
Dimensions are configurable and can be assigned a name and have rules defined as to how they are linked together (see Company). Each dimension that is in use has its own maintenance link within the Administration application.
In this example we have configured the 3 Dimensions as follows:
Dimension Name Linked To Other Available Linking Options Dimension 1 Customer Dimension 2 Dimension 3, No Links Dimension 2 Project Dimension 3 No Links Dimension 3 Phase N/A N/A In addition, Dimension 1 (Customer) has been linked to user account. This enables you to specify which Dimension 1 codes are available for selection by each user account.
Reports can be filtered and grouped by all of the available dimensions.
Code
A code that uniquely identifies the dimension. This may need to match up with coded information from your back-office systems (e.g. account codes, stock codes).
Name
A longer descriptive name for the dimension, e.g a customer or project name.
Dimension Links
Rules can be enabled to link dimensions, so that the values available for selection are filtered depending on previous selections made (see [Company).
If links are enabled, then the linked dimensions can be specified via options available in the Item Menu within the lists of dimensions.
It is possible to specify links in both top down and bottom up directions. For example, you can specify which [Dimension 2] codes are linked to a specific [Dimension 1] code (top down), and which [Dimension 1] codes are linked to a specific [Dimension 2] code (bottom up).
