Offline Functionality

Duet is designed to be able to function offline, without an internet connection. User entries can be stored locally in the web browser and later uploaded to the server when a connection is available.

When you sign into Duet you may see a prompt to update your offline data:

update_offline_data_prompt

Whether this prompt appears or not depends on your user settings and when you last updated the offline data for the specific web-browser or device that you are using. You may also update your offline data at any time by running the Refresh Offline Data option in the System Menu.

Updating offline data places copies of any supporting data tables (e.g. Dimension codes, Expense Types) into the local storage of your web-browser. The offline data enables you to access Duet and perform certain data entry functions from within the application without the availability of an internet connection

Duet will automatically switch to offline mode when an internet connection is not available. In offline mode, the identicon in the top right of the screen will change to an icon representing no signal and options on the Duet dashboard which require a connection will become greyed out.

As historic data is stored on the Duet server, functions such as reporting are unavailable in Offline mode.

When in Offline mode the application will display a No Connection message when attempting to access functionality that requires an internet connection. In this scenario you can retry the action once a connection is available.

Clear Stored Data

Running Clear Stored Data from the Dashboard option in the System menu will clear your local copies of the data tables.

Offline Options

The following options are available in offline mode:

Timesheets | Offline

Expenses | Offline

Requisitions | Offline

Service Desk | Offline Tasks

Note: offline data is stored locally on the specific device that you are using and will not be available if accessing the application via another web browser or device.
