Setup & Configuration
The suggested setup order for the Timesheets application is as follows:
Configure Organisation Settings
See Organisation for further information.
Minimum Hours
If required, set the minimum number of hours per day and per period that must be booked before timesheets can be Submitted. These settings will apply to all users unless overridden on individual user accounts.
Timesheet Approvers
If timesheet approval is required, set the users who are able to Approve timesheets within the organisation. This setting will apply for all users unless overridden on individual user accounts.
Note: If timesheet approval is disabled at Company level, then timesheets will not require approval (except for users where timesheet approval is enabled at User Account level)
Name and Configure Dimensions
See Application -> Setup & Configuration
Configure User Settings
See Users for further information.
Minimum Hours
If any users have minimum hours requirements that differ from the Company setting, then set them for the individual user account records.
Timesheet Approvers
If any users have timesheet approval requirements that differ from the Company setting, then set them for the individual user accounts.
Example: Bill and Holly are the timesheet approvers for the Company. Therefore Bill and Holly both have the CEO, Rachael, set as their timesheet approver. Rachael, being the CEO, has timesheet approval disabled.
Create or Upload Dimensions
See Dimensions for further information
Create or upload your dimensions. Consider that you may need dimensions to represent non-working tasks such as holiday, sickness, team meetings etc.
Create Periods
See Periods for further information
All timesheets belong to a period. Periods can be any length but cannot overlap. Create as many periods that are required. Newly created periods will initially be marked as Closed so users will not be able to enter timesheet data against them.
Open Periods
See Periods for further information
Open any timesheet periods that you wish users to be able to record time against. Users will now be able to use the Timesheets application.
